JPMorgan’s blockchain division Kinexys has announced it will issue its deposit token, JPM Coin, directly on the Canton Network. The collaboration with Digital Asset, revealed Tuesday, enables native issuance, transfer, and redemption of JPM Coin within Canton’s blockchain environment. The integration targets institutional users seeking fast and secure settlement within a regulated digital framework.
JPM Coin to Operate Within Regulated Blockchain Infrastructure
The rollout will begin in phases throughout 2026, starting with the technical and commercial foundations required for full functionality. Kinexys confirmed that institutions will be able to move JPM Coin instantly across applications connected to the Canton Network. The integration supports real-time transactions for payments, settlements, and liquidity management while preserving compliance and privacy.
JPM Coin is a U.S. dollar–denominated deposit token backed by funds held at JPMorgan. Unlike non-bank stablecoins, it provides a direct claim on regulated bank deposits. This structure combines traditional financial safeguards with the benefits of blockchain-based execution.
Yuval Rooz, co-founder and CEO of Digital Asset, said the collaboration brings regulated digital cash “to the speed of markets.” He emphasized that the move supports real-world financial use cases with synchronized settlement across platforms. Rooz explained that the partnership creates a trusted environment for institutional digital payments.
Kinexys to Expand Blockchain Products and Tokenized Funds
Naveen Mallela, global co-head of Kinexys, said JPM Coin’s presence on Canton will improve capital efficiency and unlock new liquidity opportunities. He explained that combining bank-backed assets with blockchain-native tools allows institutions to modernize payments without compromising regulatory integrity. Kinexys also plans to bring additional products to Canton, including Blockchain Deposit Accounts.
The partnership is designed to support both digital-native institutions and traditional financial firms transitioning to blockchain infrastructure. Kinexys confirmed that new products will be added based on technical readiness and institutional demand. These expansions aim to increase synchronized transaction capabilities across asset classes.
As we had reported earlier, JPMorgan’s asset management division is launching its first tokenized money-market fund on Ethereum. Named the My OnChain Net Yield Fund (MONY), the private fund will be seeded with $100 million of JPMorgan’s own capital. Built on Kinexys’ infrastructure, the fund will open to outside investors later in 2026.
