This latest buy comes as Bitcoin traded near historic highs, briefly surpassing $122,000 before falling back to around $118,000. The company remains the largest public holder of Bitcoin globally.
New BTC Purchase Raises Total Holdings Over 600K
The 6,220 BTC purchase was completed during the week ending July 20, 2025. This follows a previous buy of 4,225 BTC just a week earlier, confirming Strategy’s continued accumulation efforts. At the time of the purchase, Bitcoin’s price ranged between $116,000 and $122,000.
The transaction was confirmed in Strategy’s latest SEC filing, which stated, “The Company acquired approximately 6,220 BTC for $739.8 million in cash.” The average price of $118,940 per Bitcoin marked a slight decrease from the previous week’s $111,827 average.
In total, the company has purchased 10,455 BTC so far in July. For comparison, Strategy bought 17,075 BTC in June, 26,695 in May, and 25,370 in April, showing a consistent accumulation strategy.
BTC Yield Rises to 20.8% Year-to-Date
Strategy’s proprietary Bitcoin Yield metric rose from 20.2% to 20.8% year-to-date. The yield is calculated based on the growth in BTC holdings relative to the number of diluted shares outstanding. The company introduced this metric in August 2024 to provide a benchmark for its BTC performance.

At its highest point in 2024, the firm’s BTC yield reached 74.3%, according to Strategy’s earlier disclosures. The rising yield metric reflects the firm’s growing Bitcoin position and shareholding base.
Executive Sells Shares as Company Buys Bitcoin
While Strategy was expanding its Bitcoin treasury, a top executive sold company shares. Wei-Ming Shao, Senior Executive Vice President, sold 10,900 MSTR shares on July 14. The sale was valued at approximately $4.9 million, according to the SEC filing.
This follows a separate $25.7 million sale by the same executive earlier in the month. The company disclosed both sales through its regular reporting channels.
Despite the executive sales, Strategy has continued its aggressive BTC acquisition approach. The company has now spent a total of $43.6 billion on Bitcoin, with an average cost of $71,756 per coin. The recent $740 million investment adds to a long line of similar purchases dating back to 2020.
