Shares of Airbus (EADSY) advanced 3.4% to reach an intraday peak in New York trading on Tuesday following the aircraft manufacturer’s presentation of an aggressive medium-term strategy during an investor gathering held in London.
The European aviation giant established an adjusted EBIT objective of €12–13 billion for 2029. This represents a significant leap from the €7.13 billion delivered in 2025 and the €7.5 billion projected for 2026 — effectively positioning the company to nearly double its operating earnings within a four-year timeframe.
The 2029 forecast incorporates an assumed €/$ exchange rate of 1.22. The company also reaffirmed its cash conversion ambition of approximately 1 across a five-year period.
Chief Executive Guillaume Faury, alongside other top executives, hosted the investor briefing. The presentation addressed strategic initiatives across Commercial Aircraft, Helicopters, and Defence and Space segments.
Directors authorized a €5 billion stock repurchase plan to unfold over a three-year timeline. Company leadership will execute the programme according to board-defined parameters, pending continuous shareholder consent.
The commercial aircraft segment is projected to generate roughly €10 billion of the total 2029 operating profit figure. J.P. Morgan analysts previously suggested earlier this month that reaching this benchmark was feasible within a three-year window.
Roadmap to Enhanced Profitability
Achieving these targets hinges on increasing aircraft production to satisfy robust demand from airlines worldwide. Supply chain bottlenecks and engine availability issues have constrained manufacturing capacity throughout the aerospace industry, and Airbus continues working to overcome these operational hurdles.
This marks the inaugural occasion that Airbus has disclosed a multi-year profit objective during a business presentation. No comparable target was established at the corresponding gathering twelve months prior.
Current Year Projections Unchanged
The company maintained its existing 2026 forecast without revision. Management emphasized that projections assume the absence of additional complications affecting international commerce, aviation traffic, supply networks, or internal processes.
The outlook further presumes continuity in trade policies and tariff structures. Potential merger and acquisition transactions are excluded from current forecasts.
During Tuesday’s investor presentation, Airbus stock was showing gains of 4.91% for the trading session.
