Revenue Declines as Marketplace Activity Weakens
Fiverr reported second-quarter revenue of $97.8 million, down 10.0% from $108.6 million one year earlier. Marketplace revenue fell 15.5% to $63.1 million during the quarter. However, services revenue rose 2.0% to $34.6 million and partly limited the overall decline despite broader marketplace weakness.
Annual active buyers dropped 21.9% to 2.7 million from 3.4 million last year. Meanwhile, annual spending per buyer increased 15.6% to $368. Fiverr also lifted its marketplace take rate to 28.0% from 27.6% over the same period.
The figures showed fewer customers using the platform, although remaining customers spent more on average. Fiverr linked the shift to faster AI adoption across low-value and transactional work. The company plans to target longer projects that require human expertise, management, and accountability.
Profitability Holds While Cash Generation Falls
Fiverr recorded GAAP net income of $4.5 million, compared with $3.2 million one year earlier. Basic and diluted earnings reached $0.12 per share, up from $0.09. The company also raised its GAAP gross margin to 81.7% from 81.2%.
Non-GAAP net income fell to $18.3 million from $27.4 million. Diluted non-GAAP earnings declined to $0.50 per share from $0.69. Adjusted EBITDA also dropped to $17.5 million from $21.4 million.
The adjusted EBITDA margin narrowed 180 basis points to 17.9%. Operating cash flow fell 45.1% to $13.8 million. Similarly, free cash flow declined 45.5% to $13.6 million from $25.0 million.
Fiverr Resets Strategy as AI Changes Freelance Demand
Fiverr has spent years connecting businesses with freelancers across design, writing, programming, marketing and other digital services. However, automated tools now handle many simple tasks that previously supported frequent marketplace orders. This change has placed pressure on Fiverr’s transaction volumes and customer base.
The company now aims to expand higher-value work and attract larger, longer assignments. It expects AI tools to support skilled freelancers rather than replace expertise in complex projects. Management also plans to keep costs controlled while funding the marketplace transition.
Fiverr adjusted its guidance to reflect weaker demand and the time required for its strategy to produce results. Its balance sheet gives the company flexibility to stabilize the core platform and pursue selective investments. Still, the steep stock decline reflected concerns about falling revenue, fewer active buyers, and slower cash generation.
