Marvell (MRVL) shares slipped roughly 0.9% during Wednesday’s premarket session to around $260.14 following Tuesday’s 1.9% advance that closed at $262.36. The semiconductor company’s stock has surged approximately 209% throughout 2026, prompting analysts to evaluate whether current valuations accurately reflect future growth prospects.
Marvell Technology, Inc., MRVL
Seaport Research Partners launched coverage of Marvell with a Buy recommendation and established a $270 price objective. While analyst Jay Goldberg’s target implies modest 3% upside from Tuesday’s closing level, his investment case emphasizes sustained expansion within AI-powered data-center infrastructure markets.
Goldberg identified Marvell’s optical interconnect technology and customized silicon solutions as two segments well-positioned to capture increased AI infrastructure investment. These business units have gained strategic importance as hyperscale cloud providers construct progressively larger and faster computing facilities.
Data-Center Business Now Comprises Three-Quarters of Revenue
Marvell produced $6.1 billion from data-center operations during fiscal 2026, representing 74% of consolidated revenue. This marks a significant shift from fiscal 2024, when data centers contributed only 40% of total sales.
This momentum has extended into fiscal 2027. Second-quarter revenue climbed 37% year-over-year to $2.74 billion, propelled by a 46% jump in data-center sales fueled by AI-related demand.
Optical connectivity represents a critical component of this growth trajectory. Marvell reported that its optical interconnect division has expanded at approximately a 50% compound annual growth rate across the past five years and currently accounts for roughly half of data-center revenue.
Customized silicon has experienced similarly rapid growth, now comprising about 25% of data-center revenue. Marvell engineers chips specifically designed for major cloud customers who increasingly seek alternatives to conventional off-the-shelf processors.
Google plays a pivotal role in this growth strategy. Marvell announced in August an expanded commercial partnership with Google spanning multiple products within the TPU ecosystem, encompassing AI inference accelerators, networking silicon and memory-related components.
The partnership also featured a warrant granting Google the option to acquire up to approximately 59 million Marvell shares at an exercise price of $206.58, contingent upon vesting requirements.
Analysts Eye Fiscal 2030 Revenue Potential
Seaport isn’t the only research firm highlighting Marvell’s extended AI opportunity. Morgan Stanley recently elevated its price target to $268 from $246 while maintaining an Equal Weight stance.
Morgan Stanley anticipates Marvell’s October 6 investor day might reveal a roadmap toward exceeding $40 billion in fiscal 2030 revenue. The firm views Google custom silicon and associated scale-up products as significant potential revenue drivers, though this represents analyst projections rather than official company guidance.
Marvell also strengthened its manufacturing partnership with GlobalFoundries last week to expand production capacity for optical connectivity products deployed in AI data centers. MRVL rallied over 6% during that trading session as the market responded favorably to the capacity expansion news.
The primary investment concern centers on valuation following the stock’s approximately 209% year-to-date surge. Marvell also maintains substantial exposure to continued hyperscaler capital expenditures, successful delivery of custom chip programs and persistent growth in AI networking requirements.
Currently, Seaport’s initiation contributes another favorable analyst perspective but suggests limited near-term upside from present levels. Wednesday’s premarket activity shows MRVL retreating below $261 after Tuesday’s 1.9% advance.
