Shares of Strategy (MSTR) advanced 6.72% to reach $111.26 during Thursday’s morning session, propelled by Bitcoin’s surge beyond $71,000 and renewed optimism following a prominent White House cryptocurrency summit.
The world’s leading cryptocurrency touched $71,700, gaining 3.46% for the session, which directly benefited Strategy. Holding 840,447 BTC as the largest corporate Bitcoin holder globally, MSTR’s stock performance tracks Bitcoin’s price movements closely.
President Donald Trump convened the White House summit on Wednesday, gathering top administration officials alongside cryptocurrency industry executives. Discussions centered on federal stablecoin regulation, the proposed CLARITY Act, and establishing a strategic national Bitcoin reserve.
Rising Bitcoin valuations boost Strategy’s overall net asset value and enhance the company’s ability to tap capital markets for additional Bitcoin acquisitions.

Quarterly Results Disappoint and Insider Selling
Strategy’s second-quarter earnings report, published July 31, revealed a $24.45 per-share loss, substantially below the $2.19 consensus projection. Quarterly revenue totaled $122.37 million, slightly missing analyst forecasts of $122.90 million. Revenue increased 6.9% compared to the prior year.
The company maintains a $35.55 billion market capitalization and exhibits a beta of 3.54, indicating significant volatility. The 52-week trading range spans from $81.81 to $365.21. Shares currently trade considerably below the 200-day moving average of $128.90.
Recent insider transactions have favored selling. Over the last 90 days, company insiders offloaded 165,325 shares totaling more than $20.3 million while purchasing only 11,166 shares worth approximately $1 million.
Executive Chairman Michael Saylor indicated the firm might consider repurchasing MSTR shares if they trade at a sufficient discount relative to its Bitcoin portfolio value. Strategy also bought back approximately $132 million of STRC preferred stock.
The company hasn’t added to its Bitcoin holdings for seven consecutive weeks. CEO Phong Le indicated acquisitions should restart later this year, without specifying exact timing. Strategy generated $333.7 million in Q2 through MSTR stock sales, allocating those funds toward preferred dividends and STRC buybacks instead of Bitcoin purchases.
MSCI has suggested excluding Strategy from certain global investable indexes, potentially decreasing passive fund demand for the shares.
