TLDR
- Q2 revenue reached $149.7 million, surpassing analyst projections of $136.4 million by 9.8%
- The company delivered adjusted EPS of $1.13, exceeding the $1.02 Street estimate by 11.3%
- Full-year 2026 EPS forecast upgraded to a midpoint of $5.25
- Keefe, Bruyette & Woods slashed its target from $190 to $155, issuing a downgrade to “Market Perform”

Sezzle (SEZL) delivered impressive second-quarter results, yet the market’s reaction was anything but celebratory. On August 7, shares plunged dramatically, beginning trading at $132.36 compared to the previous session’s close of $178.53, eventually sliding to approximately $121.05.
The selloff occurred even as the fintech platform exceeded expectations across key metrics. The company generated $149.7 million in revenue, marking a 51.7% increase compared to the prior year and surpassing Wall Street forecasts by 9.8%. Adjusted earnings per share of $1.13 beat the consensus estimate of $1.02 by 11.3%.
The underlying issue wasn’t performance—it was positioning.
Leading into the earnings release, SEZL shares had surged approximately 106% over the preceding three months. Such a powerful advance establishes elevated expectations, and even strong fundamental results proved insufficient to sustain the upward trajectory.
Keefe, Bruyette & Woods intensified the selloff pressure. The investment firm reduced its price objective from $190 down to $155 while downgrading the stock to “Market Perform,” highlighting valuation concerns following the substantial rally.
Needham offered a contrasting perspective. The firm increased its target from $166 to $172 and maintained a “Buy” rating, suggesting additional upside potential from prevailing levels.
The overall analyst consensus registers as “Moderate Buy” with a mean price target of $146.50. While this exceeds Friday’s trading levels, the premium remains relatively modest.
Guidance Raised
Following the quarterly performance, management elevated its full-year 2026 projections. Sezzle now forecasts EPS of $5.25, surpassing the analyst consensus of approximately $5.11. Revenue guidance was set at roughly $607.9 million, exceeding the Street estimate of $596 million.
The firm reported a return on equity of 87.46% alongside a net margin of 30.83% during the quarter. Pre-tax profit totaled $51.71 million, translating to a 34.5% margin.
TD Cowen similarly increased its price target, elevating it from $108 to $165 while maintaining a “Hold” rating. That analysis was published in early July, preceding the quarterly report.
