Shares of Amkor Technology climbed 12.2% to $73.30 during after-hours trading on Thursday following the revelation of a multi-year strategic collaboration with Nvidia valued at $1.5 billion. During regular market hours, the stock had finished at $65.33, declining 2.45%.
The agreement stipulates that Nvidia will supply advance funding to facilitate the expansion of Amkor’s advanced packaging and testing capabilities within the United States, particularly at its Arizona production facility.
Both organizations plan to synchronize their long-term technological development plans, concentrating on high-density interconnect solutions and advanced heterogeneous chip integration techniques — technologies that have become essential as artificial intelligence chip demand consistently exceeds available supply.
Kevin Engel, CEO of Amkor, stated: “This strategic partnership with NVIDIA underscores the central role advanced packaging plays in enabling the future of AI.”
This collaboration builds upon an existing business relationship. Amkor has served as a long-term provider of advanced packaging solutions for Nvidia’s data center processing units. However, this new agreement substantially broadens the scope of that partnership.
The revelation also comes after Amkor’s June 2026 arrangement — a decade-long contract with TSMC focused on advanced packaging operations in Arizona. When combined with the Nvidia collaboration, these agreements signal Amkor’s evolution from a conventional outsourced semiconductor assembly company to a critical AI infrastructure collaborator.
Financial Results Expected Monday
Amkor plans to unveil its Q2 2026 financial performance following the market close on Monday, July 27. During Q1, the organization exceeded expectations on both revenue and earnings per share — revenue surpassed projections by 1.98% while EPS outperformed forecasts by 37.50%.
The Nvidia agreement provides substantial revenue predictability leading into that announcement.
Wall Street Perspective
B. Riley Securities upheld a Neutral stance on Amkor this Wednesday while reducing its price objective from $90 down to $75. This revised target now hovers marginally above Thursday’s after-hours trading price of $73.30.
Amkor commands a market capitalization of $16.19 billion. The stock’s 52-week trading range extends from a low of $20.87 to a peak of $96.66. Over the trailing 12-month period, shares have appreciated 203.58%.
The Relative Strength Index registers at 43.11, with the stock currently positioned at 58.66% of its 52-week price range.
Broader equity markets showed modest movement Thursday, with the S&P 500 advancing 0.2%, the Dow gaining 0.5%, and the Nasdaq rising 0.2% — performance that doesn’t account for the magnitude of Amkor’s price movement.
The advance funding arrangement with Nvidia delivers both revenue stability and strategic endorsement for Amkor’s domestic expansion strategy in advance of Monday’s quarterly earnings disclosure.
