Key Highlights
- Intel shares climbed approximately 6% during Monday’s premarket session, continuing a robust recovery trend from the previous week.
- Meta’s newly launched Muse AI agent is generating renewed enthusiasm for CPUs deployed in AI inference operations.
- According to Sensor Tower data referenced by Barron’s, Muse has maintained its position as the top free iPhone application in the United States for three consecutive days.
- Reports indicate Intel is engaged in discussions with AUO regarding Micro LED advanced packaging solutions for co-packaged optics and high-density computing applications.
- As of Friday’s close, Intel had accumulated year-to-date gains of 194% in 2026, propelled by substantial advances earlier in September.
Intel (INTC) shares surged approximately 6% during Monday’s premarket session following Friday’s close at $108.60. This upward movement continued a recovery pattern that featured a 4% advance on Wednesday and an 8% surge on Thursday.
The current rally appears driven by multiple factors rather than a single catalyst. Renewed enthusiasm surrounding AI inference capabilities, emerging reports concerning AUO, and broader strength across the technology sector are collectively supporting Intel’s momentum.
Meta’s recently unveiled Muse AI agent has emerged as one significant factor capturing market attention on Monday. Intel, alongside Arm and AMD, experienced upward price movement as market participants evaluated the potential implications of widespread autonomous AI agent adoption on CPU requirements.
According to Sensor Tower data referenced by Barron’s, Muse has secured the top spot as the most downloaded free iPhone app in the United States for three straight days. Meta’s stock also experienced gains during Monday’s early trading activity.
Muse Platform Reignites Focus on CPU Requirements
AI agents demand substantial computing resources when executing models and carrying out user tasks. This inference workload can drive increased demand for server CPUs in addition to GPUs and other data center infrastructure.
Arm projects the server CPU market could experience annual growth exceeding 35% and achieve a valuation of $120 billion by 2030. AMD has forecasted an even more expansive potential market estimated at approximately $220 billion.
KeyBanc analyst Justin Patterson noted that Meta’s distribution capabilities and data resources position Muse favorably as it pursues a substantial regular user base. The analyst indicated that attracting hundreds of millions of monthly or more frequent users would constitute a successful outcome for the platform.
Intel ranks among the companies well-positioned to provide CPUs for expanding inference workloads. According to Barron’s, the stock had already appreciated 194% year-to-date through Friday’s closing bell.
Reports Surface Regarding Intel-AUO Packaging Collaboration
A secondary catalyst originates from Taiwan, where reports suggest Intel is conducting negotiations with AUO concerning advanced Micro LED packaging. The proposed work would focus on co-packaged optics and high-density computing implementations.
The reported negotiations involve leveraging Micro LED technology and glass substrates in advanced semiconductor packaging processes. AUO contributes expertise in glass processing, Micro LED production, and associated technologies.
Investing.com characterized the development as a partnership arrangement, though DigiTimes reported that Intel and AUO remain in the discussion phase. Neither source offered specifics regarding commercial production volumes or product launch timelines.
The AUO report follows additional developments that have supported Intel’s recent upward trajectory. Last week, reports suggesting Intel might collaborate with SK Hynix on U.S.-based memory production contributed to the stock’s advance.
Intel also benefited as the broader technology sector strengthened on Monday. Reuters reported Intel trading up 5.3% premarket as AI-related stocks climbed and declining oil prices improved overall market sentiment.
AMD and Arm also posted gains, confirming that Monday’s movement extended beyond Intel alone. AMD advanced approximately 3%, while Arm registered gains exceeding 4% during early trading.
Intel’s latest confirmed momentum therefore stems from a combination of heightened expectations for AI-driven CPU demand and reported negotiations with AUO on next-generation packaging solutions. The company’s next scheduled earnings announcement is currently anticipated for Oct. 22.
