Tuesday proved eventful for IonQ. The quantum computing firm announced an upgraded revenue forecast, finalized a significant security partnership, and released notable Bitcoin-related research findings during a single trading session.
Shares of IONQ advanced 6.06% to $41.91 during premarket activity.
The quantum computing company now projects 2026 annual revenue between $450 million and $460 million. This updated range incorporates SkyWater’s revenue contribution spanning July 31 through the end of the year, following the acquisition’s closure.
The revised projection excludes anticipated intercompany transactions stemming from a pre-existing commercial arrangement between IonQ and SkyWater prior to the acquisition.
CEO and Chairman Niccolo de Masi stated the guidance “underscores both the commercial momentum of our quantum platform and the manufacturing capabilities delivered by SkyWater.” The company conducted its inaugural combined Investor Day webcast at 12:30 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.
According to IonQ, the firm is working on a unified technology roadmap alongside SkyWater. Management anticipates the merger will expedite progress toward commercially viable, fault-tolerant quantum computing systems.
Congruity360 Partnership Worth $8.18M
In a separate announcement, IonQ revealed an $8.18 million partnership with Congruity360 to implement quantum-resistant network solutions for corporate customers.
The agreement involves IonQ providing its Clavis quantum key distribution pairs alongside Solteris Network Appliances. Congruity360 will incorporate this technology into its data management infrastructure, supporting enterprises across finance, healthcare, insurance, legal services, manufacturing, defense, and higher education sectors.
This partnership comes after a June 2026 White House executive order that pushed federal post-quantum cybersecurity deadlines to 2030 while expanding these mandates to include government contractors.
IonQ characterizes this as among the most substantial commercial quantum security contracts disclosed domestically. The firm has prior experience implementing quantum-safe networks through collaborations with Florida LambdaRail and alongside Cisco in Switzerland.
Bitcoin Encryption Research Makes Headlines
IonQ simultaneously released research outlining how a fault-tolerant quantum computing system could theoretically break secp256k1, the cryptographic elliptic curve underlying Bitcoin’s security.
The projection: approximately 20,000 physical qubits would be necessary to accomplish this feat within roughly 26 days. IonQ emphasized this represents a theoretical resource calculation rather than an actual proof-of-concept.
According to the company, the hardware specifications described match systems anticipated on its development timeline around 2028.
From a technical perspective, IONQ is currently trading 0.4% above its 20-day simple moving average and 2.4% above its 50-day SMA. Conversely, it trades 11.7% below its 100-day SMA and 4.5% beneath its 200-day SMA. The relative strength index registers 46.31, indicating neutral momentum conditions.
Primary resistance emerges at $48, corresponding with the 100-day SMA level. Critical support is positioned near $40.
Eleven Wall Street analysts maintain a consensus Buy recommendation for IonQ stock. The mean price target stands at $70, with individual projections spanning $50 to $100. Benchmark reiterated its Buy rating with a $60 target, Needham sustained its Buy rating at $65, and Cantor Fitzgerald maintained an Overweight rating at $70.
