Shares of Strategy traded near $163 during Monday’s session, posting a nearly 2% gain following the company’s latest Bitcoin acquisition announcement. Michael Saylor’s enterprise purchased 334 BTC during a four-day window from October 1 through October 4, spending approximately $28.7 million at an average cost of $85,838.80 per Bitcoin.
Compared to recent transactions, this represents a relatively modest addition to Strategy’s holdings. The purchase follows a 1,665 BTC acquisition completed two weeks prior, signaling a resumption of accumulation after a brief period that included some asset liquidation.
Strategy’s Bitcoin treasury has now reached 848,000 BTC. At present market valuations, this position is worth approximately $73 billion. The company’s aggregate investment totals just under $64 billion, reflecting an average acquisition cost of $75,440.70 per Bitcoin.
The recent purchase was financed through the sale of 92,894 MSTR shares, generating $15.7 million. An additional $13 million was drawn from the company’s USD Cash holdings.
Under its at-the-market equity program, Strategy maintains $18.8 billion in available MSTR shares for future sales. The company has increasingly relied on this funding mechanism because STRC preferred shares are currently trading below their $100 par value, reducing their effectiveness as a capital-raising instrument.
Preferred Share Repurchase Program
During the same week, Strategy repurchased 1.77 million STRC preferred shares at a cost of approximately $176.3 million. The transaction was funded by $154.1 million from USD Cash reserves and $22.2 million from interest income generated by the firm’s cash holdings and short-term investments.
Strategy also allocated $142.5 million from its reserves toward dividend payments on preferred equity and debt interest obligations. Following these transactions, as of October 4, the company’s USD Reserve balance stood at $4.88 billion, with USD Cash specifically at $833.4 million.
STRC shares are currently changing hands around $99, marginally below the $100 par value. This represents a notable recovery from the 2026 trough near $74.
MSTR Stock Performance Analysis
MSTR has experienced significant volatility throughout the year. Over a twelve-month period, the stock has declined 48%, though recent momentum has helped recover some losses.
Year-to-date performance varies between sources and measurement dates, with estimates ranging from approximately 3% gains to near breakeven. Regardless of the exact figure, MSTR has surged roughly 30% during the past 30 days as Bitcoin prices have strengthened.
The company disclosed a nearly $21 billion unrealized gain on its Bitcoin portfolio during the third quarter, directly reflecting the cryptocurrency’s price recovery. This substantial mark-to-market profit underscores the tight correlation between MSTR’s valuation and Bitcoin price movements.
Saylor commemorated the purchase with characteristic enthusiasm, sharing a visualization of Strategy’s Bitcoin acquisition history on X with the message “More orange than ever.” While these social media posts have frequently coincided with purchase disclosures, the timing hasn’t been entirely predictable in recent months.
Strategy’s 848,000 BTC represents more than 4% of Bitcoin’s fixed maximum supply of 21 million coins. Data from Bitcoin Treasuries indicates that 196 publicly traded companies now maintain some form of Bitcoin on their corporate balance sheets.
Among other corporate holders, Metaplanet ranks second with 44,000 BTC, followed by Twenty One at 43,514 BTC, MARA at 35,577 BTC, and Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company with 30,021 BTC. Strategy’s holdings dwarf all competitors by a substantial margin.
