Nvidia (NVDA) shares gained 1.88% to $212.40 after the company introduced its new Jetson Orin Nano 2 robotics computer. The stock recovered from an earlier pullback after briefly trading above $214 during the session. Meanwhile, Nvidia positioned the new system as a stronger entry-level platform for robotics and edge computing.
Nvidia Expands Edge Computing With Jetson Orin Nano 2
Nvidia designed Jetson Orin Nano 2 for developers building robots, drones, vision systems, and other autonomous machines. The platform brings stronger computing performance into a compact and power-efficient design for edge applications. Consequently, developers can process language, images, and environmental data directly on connected devices.
The system delivers 78 trillion operations per second and includes 8GB of memory with an eight-core Arm processor. Nvidia says the platform provides twice the inference performance of the previous Jetson Orin Nano Super. Higher memory bandwidth and improved Tensor Cores support the performance increase without changing the compact hardware format.
Meanwhile, Jetson Orin Nano 2 also improves energy efficiency for systems that operate under strict power limits. The computer uses 40% less power when matching its predecessor’s performance in 15-watt operating mode. Therefore, Nvidia can target smaller robots and drones that require stronger computing without significantly increasing energy use.
Robotics Companies Begin Testing Nvidia’s New Platform
Several technology companies have started adopting or evaluating Jetson Orin Nano 2 for commercial edge computing applications. Cognex, Doosan Bobcat, Matic, and Wing rank among the companies exploring the new hardware. Their projects cover industrial systems, household robotics, drone delivery, and advanced machine vision.
Matic plans to use the platform to improve its home cleaning robots with stronger real-time processing capabilities. The company wants its robots to handle mapping, gesture detection, navigation, and conversational functions more efficiently. Additionally, local processing can help robots understand changing home environments without relying heavily on remote computing infrastructure.
Wing also plans to evaluate the new system for its delivery drones and autonomous operations. The Alphabet subsidiary already uses Jetson Orin Nano Super and Nvidia software across its drone fleet. Jetson Orin Nano 2 could support faster perception and reasoning while reducing power requirements during delivery operations.
Nvidia Strengthens Its Robotics Developer Ecosystem
Nvidia has built a large robotics ecosystem around Jetson hardware and its supporting software tools. More than three million developers currently use the company’s robotics technology for physical computing applications. The latest platform gives this community another lower-cost option for developing smaller autonomous systems.
Jetson Orin Nano 2 supports large language and vision models designed for memory-efficient processing at the edge. Developers can use Nvidia’s software stack alongside models such as Cosmos, Nemotron, Gemma 4, and Qwen 3. This approach allows machines to process advanced models locally while reducing dependence on cloud infrastructure.
Hardware partners are also developing carrier boards, software, systems, and reference designs around the new platform. Companies supporting the launch include AAEON, ADLINK, Advantech, Aetina, Aptiv, Connect Tech, and Seeed Studio. Meanwhile, Nvidia continues expanding beyond data centers as robotics becomes another important market for its computing technology.
