Blockchain will create transparency – that’s the idea. No doubt blockchain based systems do give a higher level of transparency compared to legacy systems. But when applied to government – blockchain may not deliver the results people desire.
Whoever is running things at the highest levels of the US Government (USG) is floating ideas about using blockchain as a way to create more transparency. Great. However transparency isn’t a holistic solution for fraud and other kinds of abuse.
Oversight is a key part of the equation. Without effective oversight transparency is meaningless. People already know the government is corrupt and abuses its power. But the government is also in charge of the oversight. So trillions of dollars go missing and there are no consequences.
And then there are the dangers that data creates. Blockchain will be rolled out as a new way to store massive amounts of public data – and the risks are huge.
Transparency Was Never The Problem
USAID was the first agency to face the wrath of DOGE.
Now, blockchain is being pitched as part of how the agency could be rebuilt. There was – no doubt – a huge amount of fraud and graft at USAID. But there was also free flow of information within the agency.
With the correct permissions, USAID data was simple to access. It was gated, but it was also accessible.
If other parts of the government – congress for example – wanted access to the books at USAID, it was possible. Blockchain would likely make accessing data faster, but the amount of overall transparency created is minimal.
USAID was a snake pit because that is what the powers-that-be wanted. High level operators wanted it to be a slush fund for the shadow government. Transparency was there – no one wanted to look.
Blockchain is being pitched as a panacea for government abuses. It isn’t. Blockchain is just an efficient ledger technology. That is it. It won’t make governments any less corrupt or abusive. In fact, it could do the opposite.
Data is powerful. In the wrong hands, it would be extremely dangerous.
They Aren’t Your Friends
The people pitching blockchain as the solution have other plans for the data. We know for sure that silicon valley billionaires understand the data economy. While blockchain wouldn’t curb government corruption, it would make it much easier for AI to access and use masses of government data.
Blockchain may also create ramps for large scale asset sales. The data that the USG has is extremely valuable. It is a valuable product that could be sold on a subscription basis. One great part about blockchain is its ability to permission parts of a database efficiently.
For example – Department of Health and Human Services records could be accessed for meta studies without compromising personal privacy. The cash value of this is enormous. However, when we look at other government departments, like the Department of Justice, things get more complex.
We want to assume that the government has an altruistic bias. It does not. Governments are about control. They are not working in the best interests of the masses, they serve the few who can buy politicians to do their bidding.
AI does create new ways to use data. But the implementation of this technology is terrifying.
The Hit List
As Catherine Austin Fitts points out, digital assets could easily be used to manipulate people into towing the party line. Even if you don’t agree with the direction USG policy takes, you will go along with it – so you get to keep your digital assets.
Few understood how rapid the political changes under President Trump would be. But here they are. Now former high-level officials are neutered, and are looking for ways out of the USA.
In the space of a few months, the Trump administration changed the way the USG works forever. We suspect he wants to do so much damage to the system he sees as an enemy – that even if his crew loses power – the former system can never be rebuilt.
Whoever is next in line will have to continue rebuilding the USG in the direction that the Trump administration chooses – there will be no alternative.
We all know that Biden and Harris were puppets. Biden was senile for his entire term, and Harris clearly has some personal issues. Both were easy to control. And whoever was running the show hated Trump. Now, Trump is taking revenge on a huge scale.
There is something sinister in the background of all this. Much in the same way that most social media users don’t understand they are a part of the data economy, few Trump supporters understand what the tech complex has brewing.
It’s ugly.
Testbed For Tyranny
We all know the genocide in Gaza is horrible. But it’s worse than you think. Gaza is a testing zone for next-generation surveillance and targeting platforms. These systems could be used anywhere – and they are designed for civilian populations.
Here is more info on how the systems work:
Of course, whoever uses these systems would need access to massive amounts of data – otherwise the systems aren’t as efficient. With blockchain rolled out across both public and private databases, these targeting systems could be used in a matter of minutes.
All the testing was done in Gaza. Now, access to data and equipment on the ground are all that’s needed. Turnkey genocide!
We assume that laws and due process protect us from government abuse – but laws can change. Governments can fall. The data stored on blockchains won’t change – and can be used for anything.
Give People What They Want
It’s surprising that people actually support Israel’s actions in Gaza.
While there are protests against the genocide – it also receives loads of popular support. When these big-data tools are rolled out against other populations, we suspect they will gain huge public support.
It’s so very, very easy to divide people. Here’s an example:
Social divisions fester – and then comes violence. Then more violence. It grows for generations. Hatred. Pain. Everyone on both sides knows someone who was hurt.
Hate turns to calls for real violence.
Forget about the bats and Molotov cocktails. We need a military solution. We need to crush these @$$holes for good. Scorched earth mother#%*ker.
The good news is that when that time comes – no matter who is being eliminated – the data will be there to feed the AI war machine. And the tech complex will be happy to play market-maker. Someone will make a fortune selling this $#!t.
