Robinhood is introducing cryptocurrency trading capabilities to United Kingdom customers this week, providing access to over 50 digital currencies through Bitstamp, the cryptocurrency exchange platform it purchased in 2025.
This expansion forms part of Robinhood’s comprehensive trading application, which integrates cryptocurrency services with stocks and shares ISAs, traditional equities, options trading and futures contracts. The move establishes Robinhood as a competitive alternative to traditional UK brokerage platforms.
HOOD shares climbed 0.77% to trade above $94 during Monday’s premarket hours. The stock finished Friday’s session at $93.29, representing a 2.84% daily increase.
Shares have appreciated approximately 8% following Robinhood’s second-quarter earnings release, which exceeded analyst projections. The company generated $100 million in cryptocurrency transaction revenue during that quarter.
The platform eliminates trading commissions, account maintenance charges and custody fees for UK customers. A 0.1% foreign exchange fee applies to standard transactions, which may increase to 0.3% for specific weekend currency conversions.
An important consideration: cryptocurrency positions held through Bitstamp UK do not receive protection from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme or the Financial Ombudsman Service.
The UK expansion operates under Robinhood’s cryptocurrency registration granted by the Financial Conduct Authority, enabling compliant operations that satisfy UK anti-money laundering regulations.
Generative AI for Market Intelligence
Complementing the trading platform launch, Robinhood unveiled “Cortex Digests for Crypto,” an artificial intelligence-powered feature integrated directly into the application. The tool aggregates real-time news, market analytics, technical chart patterns and proprietary Robinhood research.
This innovation provides straightforward interpretations of the factors influencing cryptocurrency price fluctuations for specific assets throughout the trading day. The feature aims to streamline information gathering for everyday investors who would otherwise need to consult multiple resources.
“Our new product provides a transparent, low-cost alternative to many incumbent UK platforms, which often rely on opaque pricing structures and apply wide spreads that can erode customers’ returns,” Robinhood said.
Building Out Blockchain Infrastructure
The rollout simultaneously makes Robinhood Chain available to UK blockchain developers. This layer 2 network operates on the Arbitrum framework, broadening the platform’s cryptocurrency infrastructure presence across the UK marketplace.
Initial cryptocurrency offerings include Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Hyperliquid. The complete selection encompasses more than 50 different digital assets.
Jordan Sinclair, President of Robinhood UK, stated the company is “taking another major step toward becoming the all-in-one investment platform for the UK.”
Bernstein analysts reaffirmed their $160 price objective for HOOD shares. The investment firm highlighted Robinhood Chain, asset tokenization initiatives, the Bitstamp integration and Robinhood Earn as key catalysts for future expansion.
The United Kingdom cryptocurrency trading service becomes available to qualified customers this week.
