State Street Revenue Slips 1% Despite Strong Annual Growth
State Street reported third-quarter revenue of $4.004 billion, down from $4.048 billion in the previous quarter. However, revenue increased 13% from $3.545 billion during the corresponding period last year. Total fee revenue declined 1.5% quarterly to $3.14 billion, although it increased 11% annually.
Net interest income reached $864 million, representing a 21% increase from the previous year. Servicing fees increased 10% annually to $1.492 billion, supported by organic growth and higher market levels. Management fees also climbed 20% to $797 million, reflecting stronger asset valuations and long-term inflows.
However, foreign exchange trading revenue declined 14% quarterly to $427 million despite increasing 17% annually. Other fee revenue dropped 29% to $98 million, largely reflecting market-related adjustments. These declines contributed to weaker quarterly revenue, while stronger servicing and management fees provided partial support.
State Street Q3 Earnings Jump 33% as Expenses Increase
State Street reported diluted earnings of $3.69 per share, representing a 33% increase from $2.78 last year. Net income climbed 27% annually to $1.09 billion, compared with $861 million during the previous year. However, total operating expenses increased 8% annually to $2.62 billion, reflecting higher compensation and technology investments.

State Street Assets Reach Record Levels Despite Cash Outflows
State Street reported record custody and administration assets of $59.2 trillion, representing 15% annual growth. Assets under management also increased 16% annually to $6.3 trillion, supported by higher market valuations. However, quarterly net asset inflows reached only $7 billion after substantial withdrawals from cash products.
Exchange-traded funds attracted $69 billion in net inflows, while cash portfolios recorded $62 billion in withdrawals. Consequently, overall net flows declined from $114 billion during the second quarter. The company also secured $429 billion in new servicing mandates during the latest quarter.
State Street expanded its investment management business through 38 new products and solutions during the reporting period. The company also announced plans to acquire Santander CACEIS Latam Securities Services, subject to regulatory approvals.
