Adjusted earnings for the period landed at $1.76 per share, comfortably beating analyst consensus of $1.66. Top-line performance reached $22.8 billion, significantly ahead of the $21.84 billion Wall Street had projected.
During the comparable quarter last year, the company reported earnings of $1.55 per share on $21.2 billion in revenue. This translates to year-over-year revenue expansion of 7.7%.
Chief Executive Carol Tomé praised company employees for their dedication throughout the past 18 months while UPS finalized its Amazon volume transition and completed a comprehensive network transformation. She described the quarterly performance as “an expected and significant shift” in the company’s operational trajectory.
Before Tuesday’s trading began, UPS shares had climbed approximately 14% year-to-date, hovering just below $113 per share. However, the stock remains significantly below its post-pandemic peak that exceeded $210.
The domestic U.S. division generated $14.93 billion in quarterly revenue, representing 6.0% annual growth. Revenue per package improved 9.3%.
International operations delivered even stronger performance, with revenue climbing 12.5% to reach $5.04 billion. Revenue per package surged 18.9%, while the segment posted an operating margin of 12.4%.
The Supply Chain Solutions division saw revenue advance 7.8% to $2.86 billion, powered by expansion in forwarding operations and logistics services.
Management Elevates Annual Projections
UPS increased its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings forecast to approximately $7.22 per share, exceeding the analyst consensus estimate of $7.13.
Full-year revenue expectations were elevated to approximately $91.2 billion, higher than previous guidance of $89.7 billion and surpassing consensus projections of $90.38 billion.
Adjusted operating profit guidance received an upward revision to approximately $8.65 billion, compared with the earlier target of roughly $8.6 billion.
Consolidated adjusted operating profit for the second quarter totaled $2.1 billion, producing an adjusted operating margin of 9.2%.
The company has navigated challenging conditions in recent years. Annual revenue crested above $100 billion in 2022 before declining to $88.7 billion in 2025. The Amazon volume reduction created additional pressure alongside wage inflation and weakening parcel demand.
Wall Street Perspective
Bernstein analyst David Vernon had anticipated a “solid” quarterly performance, indicating UPS should be approaching or reaching the conclusion of its primary challenges.
Vernon anticipates “upward pressure” on earnings projections as 2027 approaches. He maintains a Buy rating with a price target of $133.
Current Wall Street estimates project operating profit will expand to $10 billion by 2028, matching levels last achieved in 2023.
UPS shares currently trade at approximately 15 times forward earnings, representing a decline from the roughly 17 times multiple observed five years earlier.
Management stated that full-year adjusted operating profit is now anticipated to reach approximately $8.65 billion.
